Overview: A fun and fascinating destination that acts as a base for visiting Cleveland that is affordable and environmentally sound. It will be a flexible facility with links to the existing and proposed transport and social infrastructure.

Design Concept – Sustainable Tourism

West Catacombs and East Pool – Entrance Thresholds

These zones will provide shop and welfare facilities for the camping areas on the bridge with a cycle storage/exchange for both visitors and people wanting to camp on the bridge.

West Concourse – Colonization

Informed by the colonization of the natural landscape by new inhabitants, camping and play spaces along the southern edge. Cleveland’s early linear settlement form along the eastern bank of the Cuyahoga River is represented by the pedestrian/cycleway along the northern edge.

Central Span – Decay

Design informed by the city’s historical decline of heavy industries such as oil and steel with nature taking over. The tram cars will be utilized for ‘glamping’ which can be moved to create a flexible event space for the cultural events held by the city.

East Concourse – Renewal

A flexible contemporary space symbolizing the new growth and regeneration of Cleveland. The camping spaces are more permanent in nature using large concrete pipes.
