Overview: ON THAT NOTE

The Detroit-Superior Bridge is a key link between Downtown Cleveland and the city’s western neighborhoods. But what if it were the catalyst for a newly revitalized district, capitalizing on Cleveland’s rich musical tradition?

On That Note sees the bridge as the manifestation of a sound wave, undulating between light and intensive programs—physically extending outward in some places. The lower deck becomes a multi-functional music complex that includes cafés, restaurants, studios, markets, and performance spaces. From its present state of relative isolation, the bridge will be closely stitched into its surroundings–with elevators connecting both decks to the ground level, where users can transfer to and from the rapid transit system or enter a new network of waterfront trails.
