Overview: The Dog Park

The Veterans Memorial Bridge Dog Park (hereafter referred to as the Dog Park) is a series of spaces along the lower deck of the bridge. These spaces have been programed to allow for pedestrian circulation, exploration, and interaction among the many users and their pets.

Circulation is an extremely important concept for the bridge. The Dog Park offers both pedestrians and bicyclists a safe and enjoyable crossing of the Cuyahoga River. Therefore, the central portion of the bridge is minimally designed with a smooth concrete surface.

Exploration and pet interaction is encouraged in the areas surrounding the circulation path. These areas include:

* the K-9 Café, where pets and their masters can enjoy a treat in the company of others,
* an artist gallery and lounge, where something interesting is always playing,
* a series of reflection pools and mirrors that encourage self-exploration, while providing unique views in and around the bridge
* a set of dog parks that allow for the unleashed play of both large and small dogs.

Each of these areas has been designed to provide entertainment and visual stimulation accessible to the users rapidly crossing the bridge.

In conclusion, by providing the people of Cleveland with a safe circulation scheme and stimulating experience they can share with their pets, their lives will be positively impacted by the Dog Park and its surrounding areas. Most importantly, users will leave the bridge entertained in a unique and unexpected way.
