Overview: Devised Performance

Devised theater is a form of improvisational performance centered around the idea of a continually-shifting process with a final, determined product. This concept allows for continuous input and change while still allowing for a productive outcome. As artists, performers, musicians, and inventive individuals, the creative community acts as a driving, innovative force for development and change. They address and expose problems with modern day society and aim to encourage growth and awareness.
The Devised Theater bridge design is one that encourages artists of all types to explore the process of creation and have the necessary space to present the final product. It offers many of the essential resources necessary for artists to be successful including gallery, studio, practice, and performance spaces. The Artist Resources offices will provide a location for artists to seek funding for projects, build connections to resources, rent equipment, and find adequate housing in the area.
The Devised Theater design facilitates community involvement with local artists and awareness of cultural events. The bridge will allow for a variety of performance styles, including: intimate performance, such as stand-up comedy and small musical performances, large, formal performances, informal performances and gathering, and spontaneous, public performances.
